Subject: Let's do it!

I have not seen many of you since left Keda in 1982.
In late 1980s, I met several of 7771 classmates at AGU meeting,
But only very few of us go to AGU regularly these days.
In summer 1995, a few of us in the Boston area also gathered
in my house in Woods Hole (Tang Dajun, Qi Yingyong, Yang
Chaoping, Li Yingping, and Su Weijia). I make about a dozen
trips each year in the US and oversea, most of them are associated
with my professional job. Let me say that this reunion party is
one trip that I DO NOT WANT TO MISS (unless it is
scheduled while I am at sea during 23 July-27 August).

A few considerations may help to make this reunion take place as
 planned:

 * AN INCOMPLETE REUNION IS BETTER THAN NONE:
If just a small fraction of the more than 120 777 classmates show
up, we will still have a large reunion. It is arguably more difficult
to have the first reunion. But with this experience of hopefully a
pleasant gathering, those who cannot come this year could join
a later reunion, either nationwide or locally. Personally, I will be
excited to see any of you who I have not seen for 16 years!

 * IT IS OK IF YOU COME ALONE
My wife Huang, Kelan has her reunion for class 772 in Washington,
DC, last summer. I did not go because we just returned from a long
trip in China, and it was impossible to take the kids for another trip.
Thus I was baby sitting the two boys. In her reunion, 19 out of 20
Of her classmates in the US showed up - about one third went with
family and the rest did not. I think taking two days off yourself is
much easier than plan a trip with kids. I plan to come to this reunion
 alone.

In sum, if more than 15 people will signed up for now, that is more
than enough to plan a definite reunion. It is time to make
a roll call. Lao Wen, please add my name to your list.
