The three symbols above are links to other (sparsely decorated) pages
of my web site.
- On the left is the "all seeing eye," a symbol of omnipotence,
deity or divinity (the 3 sides of the pyramid represent a trinity).
This figure was part of Freemason imagery, and later appeared on
the dollar bill. Any connection is merely coincident.
- In the middle is Uroborous, the serpent consuming itself--this
symbol appears in many ancient mythologies, represents purity for
alchemists in the Middle ages, and is likened to the human psyche in
Jung's metaphor. It represents the One or the All, take your pick.
It may also represent cycles of creation and destruction. If that's
not enough dichotomy, it may also be spelled Ouroboros.
- On the right is a symbol from Greek mythology: the golden apple
inscribed with Kallisti, or "to the prettiest." The apple was created
by Eris, the Goddess of Dischord. It appears in several stories, all
of which result in chaos. And that's pretty sweet.
