St. Lucia (Tuesday, July 18th)


We anchored in Rodney Bay, a bit north of St. Lucia's capital city, Castries.


Mary and I (and about 15 others) took part in a mountain bike excursion through some of the island's lush rainforest, and this was the midpoint of the tour.


Now THAT'S what I call water pressure!!!


These were the local tour guides, and they were glad to see us go since they were looking forward to head into Castries for the second day of carnival.


We saw many banana (and other tropical fruit) plantations.


That evening (just in time for the sunset, as you can see), Mary and I participated in mast climbing. We only got to climb 1/3 of the way up the mast, but that was plenty, even with a harness.

Five were allowed up the mast at a time, and one of them took our picture.


Wow...
