Soaring at Little Black in San Diego, CA

Here are some photographs of me paragliding at Little Black in San Diego, CA on May 16th, 2000. Most of the photos were taken by my brother, Chris.

I'm waiting on the side of the launch area for the pilot in blue to launch. Check out the great carpet that people lugged all the way up there (it's about a 300 foot hike, at times fairly steep). The carpet helps keep the gliders cleaner.

Building a wall to make sure that all my lines are clear and that everything looks kosher.

Okay, everything looks good to go...

Now, I bring the canopy overhead and then turn around and run down the hill, but after just a few paces, I'll lift off the mountain and be airborne.

As soon as I'm away from the ground, I sit back in the seat of my harness where it's easier to seat steer using weight shift. It's also simply a lot more comfortable than just hanging there.

It's not as dark as it seems, but it is early evening, a couple hours before sunset and just a lovely time for flying.

I managed to stay up for a little while that evening to enjoy the view.

Thanks to my brother Chris for taking these photos for me.
