Bylaws of the Los Angeles Regional Chapter of the
University of California, Santa Cruz
Alumni Association

NAME: The name of the organization shall be the Los Angeles Regional Chapter of the University of California, Santa Cruz Alumni Association.

PURPOSE: The purpose shall be to involve UCSC alumni living in and around Los Angeles in efforts to benefit both alumni and the University consistent with the provisions of these bylaws and the articles and bylaws of the UCSC Alumni Association.

MEMBERSHIP: All members of the UCSC Alumni Association residing in and around Los Angeles are eligible for membership in the Los Angeles Regional Chapter.

GOVERNING COMMITTEE: The Governing Committee shall be comprised of ten members of the chapter. However, should fewer than ten persons be nominated, the Committee shall be comprised of the number nominated, but in no case fewer than five. The term of office for members of the Governing Committee shall be one year.

ELECTIONS: Nominations for the Governing Committee shall be accepted by the Governing Committee from any member of the Chapter at any time prior to the Annual Meeting each year. In the event the Committee receives more than ten nominations, the Committee shall conduct an election among the members present at the Annual Meeting. The ten nominees receiving the highest number of votes shall be elected to the Committee.

ANNUAL MEETING: The Governing Committee shall conduct an Annual Meeting of the Chapter in September of each year, or at such other time as it may deem appropriate.

AMENDMENTS: These bylaws may be amended by a two-thirds vote of the Governing Committee; provided, however, that any amendment shall be subject to the approval of the Alumni Council of the UCSC Alumni Association.
